Trump Said He Had Reached An Agreement With Hamas On The Complete Disarmament Of Gaza

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a “historic agreement” had been reached on the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza. “This is a monumental step toward lasting peace and security,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. According to him, the agreement will allow Gaza to be transferred to the control of a new Palestinian government, which will work closely with the “Peace Council” established by the U.S. president. “At the same time, Israel will receive the security it deserves, as Gaza will no longer be used as a base for terrorist attacks,” the White House chief added.
Trump noted that after Hamas and other groups are disarmed, Israeli troops will be withdrawn from Gaza, and international forces, together with the new Palestinian police, will ensure security. “I want to thank the mediators—Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey—for their important efforts, and especially my outstanding team, whose tireless work made this historic breakthrough possible,” the U.S. president concluded. Following Trump’s statement, Hamas spokesman Razi Hamad said that the group had made “concessions for the sake of the people in the Gaza Strip, to save them from death and forced displacement.” According to him, the negotiations lasted about six months.
At the same time, Hamad emphasized that the disarmament of Hamas depends on the phased withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip. ““We will not take a single step until we are certain that Israel will also fulfill its obligations,” Hamad noted. Disarmament, he said, will be handled by the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, which was established by the “Peace Council.” This body will be responsible for governing the Strip following the dissolution of the former Hamas administration.
Overall, according to Hamad, the disarmament process could take “about 14 days, or possibly longer.” “We must agree on every detail: how the agreement will be implemented, exactly when, and through what mechanisms,” the Hamas representative concluded.
The “Peace Council,” for its part, called the agreement with the group a historic breakthrough in the process of resolving the conflict in Gaza. Its implementation will make it possible to form a civilian government, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and rebuild and revitalize the region’s economy, the “Peace Council” added.
