GUR Fighters Shot Down A Russian MiG-29

A Russian MiG-29 fighter jet was destroyed during a drone strike by the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) on the Belbek airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea on the night of June 26.
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
“On the night of June 25–26, 2026, specialists from the Unmanned Systems Department of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense attacked the Belbek airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea. As a result of the operation, a Russian MiG-29 fighter jet was destroyed,” the statement reads.
In a single strike, GUR special forces also destroyed an airfield launch vehicle—at the time of the strike, the vehicle was servicing a combat aircraft belonging to the Russian occupiers.
Russia’s estimated losses could amount to tens of millions of dollars.
Destruction of Russian fighter jets
As a reminder, on the night of July 1, SBU drones struck hangars containing Russian fighter jets at the “Saki” military airfield in occupied Crimea.
Five hits by SBU drones on the hangars where the aircraft were stored have been confirmed.
According to preliminary information, Su-30 and Su-30SM fighter jets were in two of the hangars at the time of the strike.
Following the attack, a fire was reported in the hangar where the Su-30SM was located, indicating that the target had been successfully destroyed.
