  • 6.07.2026, 7:35

The Scandinavians won thanks to Holland's two goals.

The Brazilian national team lost to Norway 1–2 in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.

Early in the match, Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha earned a penalty kick, but Bruno Guimarães failed to open the scoring—goalkeeper Erjan Nyland saved the midfielder’s shot.

No goals were scored in the first half. Midway through the second half, Endrick missed a golden opportunity when, after finding himself one-on-one with Nyland, he shot wide of the goal.

In the 79th minute, the Norwegians opened the scoring: following a cross by Andreas Scheldrup from the left flank, Erling Haaland won the aerial duel in the penalty area and headed the ball into the net. In the 90th minute, Haaland scored his second goal, sealing the victory for Norway. In stoppage time, Neymar converted a penalty kick, but Brazil was unable to mount a comeback.

The Norwegian national team advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in history. In the next round, the Scandinavian team will face the winner of the Mexico–England match.
