A Z-propagandist Called On Russia To Withdraw Its Troops From Transnistria

To avoid another blow to its reputation.

Russian Z-correspondent Dmitry Steshin stated that Moscow no longer has the capacity to protect its military contingent in unrecognized Transnistria and must consider withdrawing it to avoid another reputational setback.

Ukrainian journalist Denis Kazansky drew attention to this.

According to Kazansky, these statements were prompted by the region’s economic problems following recent decisions by the Moldovan authorities. Chisinau has revoked previously existing tax breaks for Transnistrian enterprises, requiring them to pay taxes to the Moldovan budget. This has significantly complicated the operations of local industry and jeopardized the financial stability of the self-proclaimed administration.

Against this backdrop, Russian military correspondent Dmitry Steshin acknowledged that Russia does not have the necessary forces and resources to maintain control over the situation in Transnistria. In his view, the continued presence of Russian troops could result in yet another political defeat for Moscow.

Kazansky recalled that as far back as 2022, Russian propagandists and military correspondents dreamed of conquering all of Ukraine and reaching Transnistria. Now, as it appears, their rhetoric has changed dramatically.
