For the first time since the Ukrainian president was stripped of the Order of the White Eagle.

During a press conference at the NATO summit in Ankara , Karol Nawrocki spoke about a conversation he had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to onet.pl.

“Yesterday, we also had a brief, formal conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” the Polish leader began.

“My position on issues concerning our bilateral disagreements remains unchanged: Poland—and, I believe, all of Europe—cannot accept the glorification of UPA fighters, who, in our view, are responsible for the deaths of 120,000 Poles,” Navrotsky stated.

At the same time, he emphasized that such conversations, regardless of the circumstances, are natural.

“It seems quite natural to me that neighboring states, which share a common enemy in the form of the Russian Federation, continue to maintain a dialogue with one another despite certain bilateral disagreements,” the president noted.

As a reminder, on June 19, Polish President Karol Nawrocki decided to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle.

According to him, this decision was a consequence of the scandal that erupted after a unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was named in honor of the “heroes of the UPA.”
