The EU Has Recorded More Than 800 Attempts To Cross The Border From Belarus

Neighboring European Union countries recorded 809 attempts to cross the border from Belarus during the first week of July, according to an analysis of operational data from their border services conducted by “Pozirki” analysis of operational data from their border services.

777 attempts, or 96% of the total, occurred in Latvia; 19 (2.3%) in Lithuania; and 13 (1.6%) in Poland.

Statistically speaking, the number of migrants attempting to enter the EU via Belarus increased by a factor of 1.6 (58.6%) compared to the first week of June (510 attempts).

The migration crisis on the border between Belarus and EU countries has been ongoing since the spring of 2021. Authorities in neighboring European countries consider it a “hybrid attack” organized by the regimes in Minsk and Moscow.

Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly stated that Belarusian border guards will not stop illegal migrants traveling to the European Union via Belarus because they were allegedly invited there.
