He was attacked by Ukrainian Armed Forces drones.
On the night of July 9, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out airstrikes on strategic targets in Russia’s Rostov Region, resulting in damage to two Russian tankers in the Sea of Azov. This was reported by "Dialog".
The governor of the Rostov Region, Yuri Slyusar, acknowledged that on July 9, strategic targets in this Russian region were subjected to a massive air attack. According to him, two Russian tankers in the Taganrog Gulf of the Sea of Azov were targeted by Ukrainian UAVs.
The tankers sustained mechanical damage, and their crews had to be evacuated. Fires broke out on both vessels. The fire on one tanker has reportedly already been extinguished, while it continues on the second.
This is the second strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against Russian tankers in the Taganrog Gulf of the Sea of Azov in the past 24 hours. On the night of July 8, Ukrainian drones attacked two tankers that were heading to Rostov-on-Don. Due to damage to one of the ships, the crew had to be evacuated.
Russia (using tankers via the Sea of Azovhttps://charter97.org/ru/news/2026/7/8/690386/) supplies its troops in annexed Crimea and the occupation administration with fuel and lubricants. Ukrainian defense forces are attempting to cut off the Russian occupiers’ fuel supply, so they are disrupting both the enemy’s land and sea logistics.
Russian occupiers’ fuel trucks have practically stopped moving along the “land corridor” from Russia to Crimea, as they fear Ukrainian drones.
