The Ukrainian Armed Forces Struck One Of The Largest Oil Refineries In Russia

The drones reached the Leningrad Region.

On Thursday, July 9, the city of Kirishi in the Leningrad Region of the Russian Federation was attacked by drones. The strike likely targeted an oil refinery, according to the monitoring Telegram channel Supernova+.

Reports indicate that the Kirishinefteorgsintez (KINEF) oil refinery was hit. The refinery is one of the three largest oil refineries in the Russian Federation and has a capacity of 20–21 million metric tons of oil per year. The refinery accounts for more than 6% of the total oil refining volume in the Russian Federation.

Overnight in the Leningrad Region of the Russian Federation, a threat of a drone attack was reported. Later, Governor Alexander Drozdenco stated that Russian air defense forces “shot down” one drone; according to him, there were no casualties or damage.

The Ministry of Defense of the aggressor state, Russia, claims to have intercepted 73 drones last night over the territories of 11 Russian regions, as well as over the annexed Crimea.
