Russia took offense.
The spokesperson for the Kremlin regime Dmitry Peskov claims that Washington is demonstrating “hypocrisy” in its stance on Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Peskov made this statement on Thursday, July 9, while commenting on U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement that Ukraine could be granted a license to manufacture interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense systems, according to the Russian propaganda agency Interfax.
The Kremlin spokesman lamented that the U.S. “continues to supply weapons in full force” to Ukraine, as well as military technology, and noted that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is aware of this.
Peskov added that Washington is demonstrating “a double standard,” as it continues to express a desire to “facilitate a transition to a peace process.”
The Kremlin regime’s spokesperson, as usual, reiterated that Moscow allegedly “welcomes” this desire.
On Wednesday, July 8, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Washington would grant Kyiv a license to manufacture missiles for the Patriot air defense system.
The American leader made this statement during a press conference with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.
“A little birdie told me that we’ll give them the right to produce Patriots… We’ll show them how it’s done; it’s very complicated, but you’ll quickly grasp the complexity… We’ll discuss giving you licenses to manufacture Patriots. Pretty cool, right?” Trump said.
