Russia Has Suspended Production Of The "Kinzhal" Missiles

Ukrainian intelligence has identified the cause.

Russia has been able to increase its production of ballistic missiles, in part because it has stopped manufacturing the “Kinzhal” missiles.

This is discussed in an interview with Major General Vadim Skibitsky, deputy chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, for RBC-Ukraine.

According to Skibitsky, the rocket fuel is no longer being used for the “Kinzhal” missiles, but rather for other ballistic missiles.

Moreover, the Russians have suspended the production and use of the Kh-32 (a modernized version of the Kh-22—Ed.), so the resources and components that had been allocated for them have been reallocated to other types of missiles considered more effective.

The Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) has been tracking these trends since April 2026.

As Skibitsky explained, the enemy did everything possible to increase the accuracy of the X-32. However, the results of several combat tests showed that they were unsuccessful. That is precisely why the Russians decided to send them back for further refinement and suspended the mass production plan.

“They’re facing the same issues with the ‘Kinzhal’ missiles.” We can hardly recall a single instance where this missile hit the target precisely. For a missile to be effective, the deviation from the target should not exceed 5–7 meters, but theirs is 30 meters or more,” emphasized the deputy chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate.

He also noted that the enemy is focusing on the production of certain types of weapons and is reallocating resources toward them.

“And this makes sense: if there are certain types of missiles that reach their targets, they increase their production. In addition, they prioritize the production of those weapons for which they have the necessary components,” explained Skibitsky.
