Mark Zuckerberg's Launchpad yacht found itself in the spotlight following an incident off the coast of Alaska. The vessel, estimated to be worth approximately $300 million, was accused of failing to respond to a distress call from a boat that had run out of fuel.

The incident occurred in early August near Farragut Bay, approximately 35 miles north of Petersburg, Alaska. According to the publication, a small 21-foot boat ran out of fuel between Petersburg and Juneau. The cruise ship Wilderness Legacy eventually came to its aid, but one of the passengers claimed that Zuckerberg’s yacht, Launchpad, was closer to the boat.
A passenger on the cruise ship wrote on social media that, according to him, the U.S. Coast Guard contacted the crew of Zuckerberg’s yacht but received no response.
“Our boat rescued the stranded vessel after the Coast Guard radioed Mark Zuckerberg’s yacht, which was closer, and they repeatedly refused to respond,” said a passenger.
According to him, the situation sparked a negative reaction among people on board the cruise ship. He also noted that helping the stranded vessel could have been a positive move for the owner of such a large yacht.
What Zuckerberg’s representatives said
A representative for Mark Zuckerberg countered that the yacht’s crew deliberately ignored the request for help.
According to him, the Launchpad was on a different radio channel, so the crew did not immediately receive information about the situation. By the time the crew saw the Coast Guard’s message, help had already been organized.
The businessman’s spokesperson also emphasized that Mark Zuckerberg himself and his family were not on board the yacht at the time of the incident.
What is known about the yacht Launchpad
Launchpad is one of the largest private yachts in the world. It is approximately 387 feet (over 117 meters) long, and its value is estimated at around $300 million.
The vessel can accommodate up to 34 guests in 12 cabins. On board, there are two helipads, a swimming pool, and a dedicated lounge area. The yacht is equipped with four engines and can reach speeds of up to 24 knots.
