A Major Oil Refinery In Orsk, Russia, Has Been Attacked

A Ukrainian drone flew more than 1,500 km.

On the morning of Tuesday, August 11, explosions rocked Orsk in the Orenburg Region. A local oil refinery—the Orsk Oil Refinery—was struck by drones.

According to the monitoring channel Exilenova+, the ELOU-AVT unit at “Orsknefteorgsintez” was likely struck.

“A freedom-loving Ukrainian bird flew more than 1,500 kilometers from home. Ukraine continues to independently impose sanctions on the non-Soviet military machine,” the statement reads.

PJSC “Orsknefteorgsintez” is a major Russian oil refinery located in Orsk, Orenburg Oblast, and is part of JSC “Forteinvest,” a subsidiary of the “SAFMAR” Group. Its design capacity is approximately 6 million metric tons of crude oil per year.

In addition, on August 11, a fire broke out in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Khabarovsk Krai, Russian Federation. Online reports indicate that a large oil refinery owned by Rosneft is on fire.

“In Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Khabarovsk Krai, an oil refinery caught fire completely ‘by accident,’” notes Exilenova+.

The causes of the sudden fire at the facility remain unknown at the time of publication. Analysts suggest that this is not the result of a drone attack. Officials have not officially explained the cause of the fire.
