Russia Is Preparing A Massive Rigging Of The "elections" In The Occupied Territories Of Ukraine

The administration of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has ordered its proxies in the occupied territories of Ukraine to ensure that the “United Russia” party receives at least 70% “support” in the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
This warning was issued on Telegram by Andrei Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation .
“Russia is planning to massively rig the so-called State Duma elections in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories. Putin’s administration has set a goal of ensuring a voter turnout of over 65–70% in the temporarily occupied territories,” Kovalenko emphasized.
He pointed out that the so-called “elections” in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories are completely illegal, but the Kremlin will attempt to use them specifically to legitimize the occupation.
As Kovalenko noted, all of this is taking place against a backdrop of widespread rhetoric supporting the “eternal war.” In fact, this means that all parties support the continuation of hostilities against Ukraine.
Moreover, the “Yabloko” political party, which opposed the war, was pointedly excluded from the elections to prevent it from securing a significant share of the vote.
“This is yet another proof that the Putin regime sees no future without war and is afraid to show support for anti-war sentiments. At the same time, a segment of the Russian population opposed to continuing the war is growing steadily. These are primarily residents of Russia’s regions, although similar sentiments are being observed in Moscow, where rumors of a possible mobilization are viewed extremely negatively,” Kovalenko added.
According to him, this refers to a segment of the population that is incapable of organized street protests. Against this backdrop, he recalled that the same was true in the USSR, which collapsed due to economic problems and the negative sentiments of people who criticized the authorities in their own kitchens.
