A naval base has been hit.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had carried out a “unique operation” to strike the Russian Federation’s naval base in Novorossiysk using “Palyanitsa” drones, "Neptune" missiles, and unmanned maritime systems.
He announced this on Wednesday, August 12, on his Telegram channel.
The president clarified that Ukrainian troops “carried out a unique operation”, striking the Russian Navy’s last major outpost in the Black Sea. According to him, the targets are located more than 300 km from the front line.
For the attack, the Ukrainian military used “Palyanitsa” jet drones, “Neptune” missiles, and unmanned maritime systems. Zelenskyy confirmed the destruction of Russian air defense positions, piers, and port infrastructure facilities.
“The occupying fleet and all the infrastructure supporting its operations will not be safe as long as Russian aggression continues. The war must be stopped, and all reasonable proposals for diplomacy are on the table,” he emphasized.
On the night of August 12, Novorossiysk came under a massive drone attack; a fire was reported in the area of the local port, and a grain silo was likely hit.
