A special day for astronomy enthusiasts.
August 12, 2026, was a special day for astronomy enthusiasts: a solar eclipse took place that could be observed by many people around the world, according to "BrestCITY".
The evening solar eclipse in Belarus was partial—the Moon did not completely cover the Sun’s disk, obscuring approximately 60% of it at its peak.
Here’s what it looked like near the Rowing Canal in Brest. One advantage of the evening hour was that the sun wasn’t very bright, so regular sunglasses were sufficient. On the downside, the Sun was quite low on the horizon—not every city dweller could see it from among the high-rises.
If you happened to miss it, check out how it looked.
