U.S. President Donald Trump announced that White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt will step down from her position at the end of August. This is due to the birth of her child; however, she will not be leaving the president’s team.

“Our wonderful White House press secretary and one of my most trusted aides, Caroline Levitt, will be stepping down at the end of the month to spend more time with her lovely young children and family. I fully understand and respect this decision!” Trump said.

He did not specify who would become the new press secretary, but noted that Levitt would become one of his top external advisors and “an influential voice in the Republican Party.”

According to Trump, they are working to “defy history and win a resounding victory in the midterm elections.”
