Tropical Heat Is Returning To Belarus

Temperatures in Belarus will rise significantly by the weekend—on August 16, temperatures will reach up to +36°C in some areas. At the same time, brief showers and thunderstorms are possible in the northwest of the country on Sunday, according to Belhydromet.

On Friday, August 14, the weather will be influenced by a high-pressure system that will move from Poland to the northwestern part of Ukraine. Partly cloudy skies are expected, with mostly no precipitation. Light fog is possible in some areas at night and in the morning. Overnight temperatures will generally range from +5 to +10°C, with some areas reaching +11 to +13°C. During the day, temperatures will rise to +20 to +26°C.

On Saturday, August 15, no significant precipitation is expected either. Fog is possible in some areas at night and in the morning. Temperatures will range from +8 to +15°C, and in some areas as low as +5 to +7°C. It will become noticeably warmer during the day: from +23°C in the northeast to +30°C in the southwest of the country.

Sunday, August 16, will be the hottest day. An air mass of tropical origin will move into Belarus. During the day, temperatures will generally range from +28 to +34°C, and in some areas of the Brest Region, they may rise to +36°C.

At the same time, the weather will be varied. In the northwest, where an atmospheric front will move in from Poland, temperatures in some places will not exceed +25…+27°C. In the morning and afternoon, brief showers and thunderstorms are possible there. During thunderstorms, the wind may pick up to strong and gusty.
