Reenacting Schumacher's Stunt: An Electric Car Drove Upside Down Along The Ceiling Of A Tunnel

The new Voyah Passion S pulled off an amazing stunt. The electric car performed a 360-degree turn inside a tunnel and drove along the ceiling.

The Voyah Passion S electric car from the Dongfeng Group performed a unique loop in a tunnel in China. This was reported by the website CarNewsChina.

Dongfeng decided to recreate the stunt Michael Schumacher performed in a Mercedes SLS AMG supercar in 2010. The German racer performed a 360-degree spin in a tunnel—driving upside down along the ceiling before continuing on.

To perform the loop, special ramps were built inside the tunnel, allowing the car to climb straight up to the ceiling and descend from it. The driver of the Voyah Passion S had to maintain a constant speed of 130 km/h and keep the steering wheel at a 16-degree angle to complete the run. Dongfeng hasn’t disclosed how many attempts it took, but the stunt was ultimately successful.

It’s worth noting that this stunt is more difficult for the Voyah Passion S than for the Mercedes SLS AMG, since the Chinese electric car is larger and heavier. At the same time, it’s also slightly more powerful.

To shoot the video, we chose the top-of-the-line Voyah Passion S electric car with an all-wheel-drive powertrain rated at 637. It can accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and has a range of 700 km.
