Lukashenko’s visit to the Gomel region in August 2026 was marked by an unexpected detail: the tent for the event featuring the leader was set up right next to a huge silo pit on a local farm.

The visit was staged against the backdrop of a prosperous private farm owned by Mikhail Shrub in the village of Khilchitsy—a model, well-equipped facility.

The authors from “Flagstok” note: if a similar “stunt” involving the demonstration of silage pits were attempted on the premises of ordinary state-owned agricultural enterprises, the result might turn out to be far less optimistic—suggesting that the actual state of affairs in the state agricultural sector may fall significantly short of the picture-perfect image presented during the visit.
