Protesters are blocking the roads.
In Makhachkala, Russia, power outages have been occurring for about a month. As a result, city residents have blocked roads three times over the past eight days. On August 6, residents of Akhmat Kadyrov Street blocked a road; on August 12, residents of Kammaev Street did the same; and yesterday, residents of Irchi Kazak Street took similar action, according to “7x7”. It is noted that in two of these cases, Makhachkala residents succeeded in getting the power restored.
While Kammaev Street was blocked, the head of the power utility “Dareenergo” visited the residents. According to “7x7,” there was no electricity on Irchi Kazak Street for two days. After the street was closed, the Makhachkala administration stated that the outage was caused by a malfunction at the company “DagEnerGi” and that specialists had begun work to restore power.
“In Makhachkala, on Kammaeva Street and other streets in First Makhachkala, the power goes out almost every day. It’s been two months now. From 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. And sometimes even until midnight. <…> Why haven’t they been able to resolve the power issue yet, and how long might this continue? What are the organizations responsible for this actually doing?” — city residents complained on social media.
