Fire Point Confirmed That "Flamingo" Struck A Key Russian Missile Facility

The "Progress" Rocket and Space Center was hit, and the fire spread to a neighboring aircraft factory.

At dawn on August 15, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the "Progress" Rocket and Space Center (RSC) in Samara with FP-5 "Flamingo" missiles .

This was reported by Fire Point on its Telegram channel.

“The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the ‘Progress’ Rocket and Space Center in Samara with FP-5 ‘Flamingo’ missiles,” the report states.

The Ukrainian company explained that the Progress Rocket and Space Center is one of the key enterprises in the Russian rocket and space industry. The center develops and manufactures medium-class launch vehicles, including the "Soyuz-2" family, as well as spacecraft for Earth remote sensing and scientific programs.

It should be noted that the “Soyuz-2” launch vehicles are used to place “Rassvet” satellite internet spacecraft into orbit; “Rassvet” is the Russian counterpart to Starlink.

The Aviakor plant, which repairs and modernizes aircraft, is located not far from the Rocket and Space Center. Presumably, the fire may have engulfed Building No. 106—a key facility where aircraft are assembled.

A fire was also reported following explosions in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Region, specifically near the “Savasleika” airfield, where MiG-31K aircraft—carriers of the “Kinzhal” hypersonic missiles—are based.
