The star soccer player decided to hang up his cleats.
Cristiano Ronaldo has not ruled out the possibility that the 2026–27 season could be the last of his professional career. The 41-year-old captain of Al-Nassr and the Portuguese national team spoke about this in an interview with Vogue.
“This will likely be my last year in soccer, and I want to leave behind an impressive legacy,” Ronaldo said.
According to the Portuguese star, he has already prepared in many ways for life after soccer. Ronaldo plans to devote more time to his family and traveling, and he also wants to play and watch padel matches.
The soccer player admitted that the end of his career will inevitably leave a huge void in his life, one that he’ll have to fill with new activities.
“After all, it’s been 25 years of countless sacrifices,” Ronaldo noted.
The forward’s current contract with Al-Nassr runs through the summer of 2027. Thus, his comments may suggest that Ronaldo is considering the possibility of retiring at the end of the current season.
