Throughout the night of August 18, drones launched a massive attack on the Moscow Region. Authorities report detecting at least 620 drones, flying toward Moscow and the region; fires have been reported in the region, according to “Focus”.
The attack on Moscow and the Moscow Region began on the evening of August 17 and continued throughout the night. In the morning, the mayor of the Russian capital Sergey Sobyanin reported that Russian air defenses had managed to shoot down at least 180 of the alleged 620 drones over the region.
“Emergency response specialists are working at the sites where debris fell,” Sobyanin said, without providing any details about possible hits or other consequences of the massive shelling.
Nevertheless, footage of the attack’s aftermath is actively circulating on social media. According to OSINT analysts, an Ozon warehouse in the Moscow Region was among the targets, though there were no official comments on the matter at the time of publication.
“Moscow Region, Kupavna. Ozon has been attacked,” monitoring channels report.
In addition, OSINT analysts reported overnight that drones had carried out strikes near the Moscow Oil Refinery. In particular, it was reported that the refinery itself was also hit, but this information was ultimately not confirmed.
In addition, OSINT channels reported overnight that Russian air defenses, while attempting to repel the attack, “struck” a residential high-rise building. Observers report that the upper floors of the building are on fire as a result of the use of electronic warfare systems.
