The vessel was struck after loading near Novorossiysk.

The Greek-flagged oil tanker Skiros may have was attacked in the Black Sea after loading Russian oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal.

This was reported to the agency Bloomberg by informed sources.

According to the agency’s sources, the Suezmax-class vessel Skiros was attacked after loading at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal near Novorossiysk.

It is noted that although the CPC primarily loads Kazakhstani oil, this particular shipment was of Russian origin. According to sources, the attack took place on Sunday, August 16, near the terminal.

“This is the first attack on a vessel entering the CPC terminal—a key export route for Kazakhstani oil—after a nearly three-week hiatus in attacks. Last month, repeated drone strikes disrupted loading operations at the CPC, which recently accounted for nearly 2% of global oil shipments, and forced Kazakh oil fields to cut production,” the publication states.

The Athens-based company listed in the Equasis system as Skiros’s manager reported that no one was injured and no pollution occurred as a result of the incident, and that the vessel’s owners are aware of the situation.
