Moscow And The Moscow Region Are Ablaze: The Russian Capital Has Come Under A Record-Breaking Drone Attack

On the night of August 18, Moscow and the Moscow Region were hit by one of the largest drone attacks since the start of the war. This was reported by Dialog.UA reports this, citing Russian sources and monitoring resources.
According to the mayor of the Russian capital Sergey Sobyanin, since the evening 627 Ukrainian UAVs have been flying toward the city, about 180 of which were allegedly shot down by Russian air defense forces directly in the Moscow region.
The Russian propaganda agency TASS called the attack the largest in scale over the past two years. Efforts to repel the strike continued into Tuesday morning.
According to Russian authorities and local residents, debris from drones shot down by air defense systems caused damage and fires in several areas of the Moscow region. In particular, a fire was reported near the oil refinery in Kapotna.
In the village of Kuznetsy, a private home was completely destroyed by fire, and two other homes were damaged in Bogorodskoye. Near “Atlant Park,” a drone struck a Wildberries warehouse. Air defense operations were also reported near the Ozon warehouse in Kupavna.
In Kolomna, a shopping pavilion near the “Globus” shopping center caught fire after debris fell on it. The registry office building and a store were damaged, as were the windows of a residential building. In Kotelniki, scaffolding and insulation materials caught fire on the grounds of a residential complex under construction.
In addition, damage to a car and a transformer substation was reported in Elektrostal, and damage to a private home was reported in the Ramenskoye District. Amid the attack, temporary restrictions were imposed at all four Moscow airports. Russian authorities continued to claim that they had repelled the airstrike and destroyed the drones.
