Mass production of mobile power substations has begun.

The Russian state-owned corporation "Rostec" has announced the start of mass production of mobile electrical substations. In a post on its official Telegram channel, the company referred to the initiative as "Energy First Aid in Case of a Blackout."

The state corporation directly acknowledged that deploying such systems is critically important given the risks of large-scale power outages resulting from drone strikes.

Context and Extent of Damage

According to estimates by independent journalists, in the first 10 months of 2025 alone, more than 460 cases of damage to power grid facilities were recorded in Russia due to attacks by Ukrainian UAVs. Power outages occurred most frequently in the Belgorod Region.

Russian authorities are withholding official data on energy infrastructure losses in 2026, but the scale and geographic scope of the attacks have increased significantly. Since the summer, widespread and prolonged power outages have been regularly reported throughout the occupied Crimean Peninsula.
