Ken Okuyama, one of the creators of the Ferrari Enzo, has unveiled his own supercar, the Kode89. The new model deliberately eschews many of the features found in modern hypercars and instead relies on a naturally aspirated V12, a manual transmission, and a minimalist design, according to Motor1.

The Kode89 features an aluminum monocoque, a mid-engine layout, and a carbon-fiber body. The car is 4.61 meters long, nearly 2 meters wide, and just 1.14 meters tall.

The base version is equipped with a 5.4-liter naturally aspirated V12 producing 540 horsepower and 569 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission with an open-shift design and sends power to the rear wheels.

A larger 5.9-liter engine is planned for the flagship model, capable of producing around 750 horsepower.

The main feature of the Kode89 is its rarity. Ken Okuyama Cars plans to produce only eight units. The first car has already been unveiled to the public, and two more vehicles, scheduled for production this year, have already found buyers.

Owners will be able to customize the car almost entirely to their liking—from a lightweight version for spirited driving to a luxury trim. Okuyama previously worked at Pininfarina and helped design the Ferrari Enzo. Now he is building cars on his own terms, bringing back the naturally aspirated V12 and manual transmission to the world of supercars—features that are becoming increasingly rare.
