It also published a video from the scene, filmed by blogger Elena Rain. In it, she shows the restaurant—specifically the terrace—where the explosion occurred. She also describes a “loud bang” that she heard from inside the building, which turned out to be a bomb explosion.
The Russian publication Astra quoted Rain’s comment.
“I heard an explosion and didn’t realize it was an explosion. I started calling the restaurant, then went downstairs. I couldn’t believe there could be an explosion in broad daylight in the center of Moscow. The area was already cordoned off; no one was allowed to film, and all reporters were asked to delete their footage. The fact that I managed to capture any footage at all is a miracle!” she told reporters.
According to the eyewitness, the restaurant staff, including the general manager, are her friends. However, they refused to share details of the incident; “security forces wouldn’t let them leave the restaurant and forced them to remain silent while the investigation is ongoing,” the post states.
