Another step has been taken toward the production of air defense systems in Ukraine.
The United Kingdom and France have agreed to grant Ukraine a license to manufacture the Storm Shadow/SCALP on its own.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference with Estonian President Alar Karis.
Zelenskyy stated that on August 24, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Andy Burnham agreed to grant Ukraine the relevant license.
“We have received confirmation from the United Kingdom regarding the production of SCALP long-range missiles. Prior to this, we spoke with President Macron, and he confirmed that the ‘SCALPs’ and the license had been approved,” said the Ukrainian president.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine will take action.
“I believe this is a very positive development and a strong decision,” he added.
The Ukrainian head of state also announced that within 7–10 days, Ukraine will have a schedule for working with the FREYJA anti-ballistic missile system:
- when the next meetings with partners will take place,
- where the process is stalled,
“Everyone is taking this very seriously; we will resolve all the issues,” he said.
In addition, Norway confirmed $9 billion in funding for 2027.
Ukraine has also received confirmation of future deliveries:
- several Crotale air defense systems and missiles for them,
- AIM missiles, which the air defense system uses to shoot down Russian missiles.
