A New MV11 Marine Drone Was Tested In Ukraine

The "Magura" series of unmanned surface vessels (USVs), which has undergone combat testing in Ukraine, has been expanded to include its largest model to date, according to TWZ.

The publication reported that the new MV11 is designed for operations on the open ocean lasting up to a week and can carry a payload weighing up to 2,200 kilograms.

So far, the unmanned vessel has been demonstrated in a single configuration: equipped with 18 small, vertically launched Sting interceptors, which turns it into a small floating anti-drone battery.

“Given its significant payload capacity and other capabilities, it can also be used in other roles,” the article states.

It is noted that the MV11 was first presented to the general public at a parade marking Ukraine’s Independence Day in the country’s capital, Kyiv. Unmanned aerial, ground, and maritime systems were the main features of this event, underscoring their crucial role in Ukraine’s modern Armed Forces.

During the naval portion of the parade, which took place along a stretch of the Dnieper River, other members of the “Magura” family were also showcased, as well as other unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), specifically kamikaze drones and vessels armed with converted air-to-air missiles.

UFORCE was founded in Ukraine, but its headquarters are located in London, United Kingdom. It is often described as a defense conglomerate specializing in unmanned technologies, under whose umbrella several different companies operate.

The publication noted that many of its divisions are also located outside Ukraine. For example, the main design and research bureau responsible for developing the “Magura” series is located in Portugal.

It is not yet known exactly what capabilities the MV11 has for detecting and tracking targets. However, this unmanned surface vehicle (USV) has a mast at the stern, and currently available images show that it is equipped with a camera turret, a navigation radar, and two other horn-shaped antennas.

“The camera system can be used to detect and track targets, as well as simply to improve situational awareness. The additional antennas may enable passive detection of aerial targets based on their signal emissions or serve other purposes,” the publication explains.

The publication noted that Ukraine already has unmanned surface vessels armed with conventional anti-aircraft missiles, which, according to the country, have been successfully used to shoot down Russian aircraft and helicopters.
