The meeting with Putin never took place.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe met with the head of the FSB’s Third Directorate Ivan Tkachev and the head of the Fifth Directorate Alexei Komkov during a visit to Moscow. Both of these units are responsible for Russia’s war against Ukraine. This is reported by “VChK-OGPU” and Rucriminal.info, citing sources.
“Sources from ‘VChK-OGPU’ and Rucriminal.info reported that Ivan Tkachev, head of the Third Directorate of the FSB, and Alexei Komkov, head of the Fifth Directorate, were present at the meeting with CIA Director John Ratcliffe. In other words, the negotiations were attended by the heads of divisions directly involved in the war on Ukrainian territory,” the report states.
The article also suggests that, based on the results of the talks, the FSB deemed a meeting between the CIA director and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to be inadvisable.
“Apparently, if the talks had gone well, a meeting between Ratcliffe and Vladimir Putin could have taken place. However, based on the results of the talks with FSB representatives, such a meeting was apparently deemed inappropriate,” the report states.
No further details of the talks are provided.
