Secret Aid From Italy: Ukraine To Receive Anti-Ballistic Missiles

It has been revealed what else will be included in the secret package.
The Italian government has secretly approved a new package of military aid for Ukraine, which includes the delivery of Aster 30 missiles, SAMP/T NG systems, and radars.
According to the publication, the government of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has already agreed on the relevant decisions regarding military aid, and these are to be finalized in the thirteenth “Aid Decree.” This was reported by La Repubblica.
On August 24, the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani announced the preparation of a new aid package following a conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.
The new package is expected to consist primarily of air and missile defense systems. Specifically, this includes four SAMP/T NG batteries capable of intercepting ballistic missiles, as well as Aster 30 interceptor missiles.
In addition, the Italians will equip the missiles with seven long-range radar stations: six manufactured by the French company Thales and one by the Italian company Leonardo.
According to the publication, the agreements on the military aid package resulted from a deal between Italy and France signed in July. The two countries jointly produce the SAMP/T systems and Aster 30 missiles, which are used to defend against air and missile attacks.
It has also been reported that Paris and Rome may grant Ukraine permission to manufacture Aster 30 N1BT interceptor missiles directly on Ukrainian territory. This should reduce Kyiv’s dependence on shipments of finished missiles from Europe.
Ukraine already has two SAMP/T batteries, transferred to it by Italy and France. They have demonstrated their effectiveness in combat. At the same time, since the summer of 2025, there has been a problem with ammunition for these systems, as stocks of Aster 30 missiles in Paris and Rome have dwindled to minimal levels.
Production of the interceptor missiles is set to increase, and Italy intends to transfer some of the missiles to Ukraine as early as October to supply both existing systems and new ones scheduled for deployment.
The total cost of the aid is estimated at approximately 3 billion euros. Funding is planned to come from European Union resources as part of the Ukraine Support Loan program.
