New Temperature Records Have Been Set In Belarus

The weather was surprising in the Gomel Region.

Three temperature records were set on August 2 at weather stations in the Gomel Region amid abnormally hot weather. This is evidenced by a comparative analysis of real-time and archived data from Belhydromet, conducted by "Pozirki".

New daily highs were recorded in Mozyr, where the temperature reached 35.4 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 34.3 degrees set in 2014. In Bragin, the temperature reached 34.9 degrees, breaking the previous record of 34 degrees (set in 2014). In Lelchitsy, temperatures rose to 33.3 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 31.9 degrees set in 1998.

The day before, the all-time high for August 1 was broken: in Brest, the temperature reached 36.3 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 35.2 degrees set in Vasilevichi in 1936.

According to Belhydromet’s forecast, a slight drop in temperature is expected on August 3: daytime highs will reach 23–29 degrees, and in the south—30–33 degrees. However, starting on August 4, the heat will intensify again. Meteorologists are forecasting temperatures of 24–31 degrees, with 32–36 degrees in the southern half of the country, and on August 5, temperatures will range from 28 degrees in the north to 38 degrees in the south.
