Political prisoner Sergei Yaroshevich has been released; this was announced on Facebook wrote his wife, former political prisoner Antonina Konovalova.

In May 2021, Sergei was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in a penal colony in connection with the “Army with the People” Telegram channel case.

“The kids have finally seen their dad free and safe. More than anything, I want this day to come for every political prisoner, for everyone to be in the arms of their loved ones, so that no one else has to wait for their loved ones behind barbed wire,” Antonina wrote.

Sergey was detained in October 2020 and later convicted under articles concerning “gross violation of public order” (Article 342 of the Criminal Code) and “preparation for and participation in mass riots” (Parts 2 and 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code). Sergey was initially sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in a penal colony. However, while already in prison, he was tried again; under the charge of “disobeying the prison administration” (Article 411 of the Criminal Code), the court added another nine months to his sentence.
