Zelenskyy Outlined Three Priorities For Ukraine Regarding EU Membership

Ukraine has identified three key areas for more intensive work toward EU membership, including support for resilience this winter.
This was reported by Charter97.org citing a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“We have identified areas for more intensive work with the European Union. Two clusters have already been opened this year in the negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, and we are preparing to open four more clusters,” he noted.
The head of state added that during a meeting with Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Vsevolod Chentsov, and relevant deputies to the Head of the Office, Serhiy Kislitsa and Ihor Zhovkva, three priorities were identified.
“First: Ukraine is working specifically toward full membership in the European Union, and we view this not only as a political or economic goal, but as a security issue—both for us and for the European Union,” the president stated.
According to him, Ukraine’s accession to the EU will “eliminate geopolitical uncertainty,” which the Russian Federation has exploited for decades to sow destabilization in both Ukraine and the EU. Furthermore, the European Union, “alongside Ukraine’s strength,” is acquiring the necessary security capabilities to strengthen the European component of the Euro-Atlantic community.
“Second: we must already be making the most of all opportunities for Ukraine’s sectoral integration into the European Union,” Zelenskyy said.
The president emphasized that all EU countries must view Ukraine “as an integral part of established European processes,” which should “drive our political progress and the decisions of leaders and nations.”
“Third: of course, we must build relationships at all levels in such a way that Ukraine receives the necessary packages and decisions to support its resilience this winter. Relations with Brussels and European institutions, European capitals, and communities across Europe must be practical—focused on what can truly help protect lives in Ukraine,” the head of state noted.
