The U.S. Market Rose To A New Record High

  • 4.08.2026, 20:56

Stock indices are reacting positively to the possibility of a peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran.

As of the evening of August 4, the S&P 500 index rose 1.3% to 7,767.3 points, according to trading data. This is an all-time high in the history of the U.S. market.

The positive sentiment in the U.S. market on August 4 is linked to a statement by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. He had previously stated that an agreement to open the Strait of Hormuz could be reached in the coming days. The deal could take place on Tuesday or Wednesday and would allow for the free movement of commercial vessels.

At the same time, following his statement, the price of Brent crude oil plummeted below $80 per barrel.

Among other factors, the market rally is being supported by strong quarterly results from companies in the artificial intelligence sector, according to Reuters.

“Earnings from artificial intelligence have been fantastic, but the main question investors are asking themselves now is how sustainable this trend is,” noted Eric Parnell, chief market strategist at Great Valley Advisor Group. According to him, if the trend is sustainable, the market will need to learn to distinguish between the winners and losers in this sector.
