Trump: The Strait Of Hormuz Will Soon Be Open

The U.S. president described the talks as “very constructive.”

U.S. President Donald Trump states that the Strait of Hormuz will be opened “in the near future,” otherwise he will launch a new, powerful attack on Iran.

The U.S. president’s statement is reported by CNN.

Trump noted that “very constructive talks” with Tehran are ongoing, but warned that if Iran reneges on its commitments, he will resort to strikes once again.

“The Strait will be opened very soon, otherwise they will face a very strong strike… If they back down again, a truly strong strike awaits them. They know this. They understand this. I have no choice,” said the U.S. president.

According to him, his primary goal is not to resume attacks, but to reach a diplomatic agreement.

“We dealt them a very, very heavy blow. But the heaviest blow is yet to come, and I hope we won’t have to use it. I hope we won’t have to—we’re having very constructive talks. They don’t like to admit it,” Trump added.

Iran denied that it is conducting direct talks with the United States. Instead, Tehran stated that it is working with Oman on an agreement to open the strait.

The mediators hope that once the strait is opened, the U.S. and Iran will be able to resume negotiations on the nuclear program.
