What would make Russia fear a continuation of the fighting?

- That’s how the process should work. This is exactly what Ukraine is proposing: not to be afraid and to shoot down these weapons. And if Europe wants to see fewer such incidents, it should invest in Ukraine, which will put an end to this whole situation. “We’ll get there anyway,” Podolyak is certain.
According to the adviser to the Office of the President, the EU should make the appropriate decisions today, taking into account current events. We should stop talking and, as Podolyak emphasized, take action—and do so with confidence.
- Returning to Russia, only one thing will work: ballistics against ballistics. We’ve already reached the point where the cost of war is high. We’ve already realized that the war could affect Russian territories, regardless of their distance from the combat zone; that no targets are off-limits; and that all of Russia’s infrastructure is a direct military target. This requires a resolve that exists in Ukraine but is lacking in Europe,” Podolyak stated.
He noted that negotiating with Putin the way Merkel (the former German chancellor) did—gently voicing proposals to stop and bargaining with him—will only lead to disaster. Russia’s aggression and the buildup of its military capabilities must be met with an appropriate response—force.
“Ballistics must be met with ballistics. As soon as a comparable number of ballistic missiles are deployed there, things with Russia will quickly come to an end. Russia may make certain statements afterward—after all, Lavrov is irrational—but it will be afraid to even look in Europe’s direction,” Podolyak is convinced.
