Ukrainian Maritime Drones Attacked Yalta During A Meeting Of High-ranking Russian Military Officials

The Main Intelligence Directorate described the attack as a “naval parade” ahead of the city’s anniversary.
On the afternoon of August 7, Ukraine attacked the Yalta coastline with naval and aerial drones, according to Ukrainian monitoring channels. Judging by footage posted by local residents, the strikes caused a major fire in a building on the city’s waterfront. According to “Crimean Wind,” the fire broke out in a building next to the Hungry Bird restaurant, where high-ranking Russian military officials were reportedly scheduled to gather on Friday. One of the channel’s subscribers reported that around 11:20 a.m., “six black, tinted foreign cars” were seen in the parking lot next to the restaurant; “two of them had military license plates, while the others had no license plates at all.”
Eight minutes later, they left the parking lot. “Crimean Wind” notes that the unmanned boats (BEKs) that attacked Yalta are equipped with FPV drones. At the same time, a drone alert was issued in Yalta at the beginning of the twelfth, and locals reported a large number of police officers in the area of the Yalta waterfront just before the fire. Some locals wrote in public groups that it was the Hungry Bird that was on fire. The authorities did not report whether anyone was injured as a result of the attack. According to Oleg Kryuchkov, an advisor to the Russian head of Crimea, at least one unmanned boat (UB) did not explode, and the authorities organized an operation to defuse it.
Residents of Yalta were asked to leave the Primorsky Park area. Prior to this, residents reported “heavy gunfire” near the waterfront and drones flying overhead, after which local authorities urged citizens to leave the area as well as the beaches. “Residents living near the coast should leave their balconies, stay away from windows, and remain in a safe place,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Z-Channel’s “Archangel of the Special Forces” suggested that, “based on its visual appearance,” the maritime drone that malfunctioned in Yalta Bay resembles a Ukrainian “Magura” V6 or V7-type unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV).
Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) confirmed the attack on Yalta using “Magura” drones, calling it a “naval combat parade” ahead of the city’s anniversary. The operation was carried out by Group 13, a unit that specializes in “hunting” Russian military ships and attacking coastal military facilities of the Russian Armed Forces.
