Turkey Announced Attacks On All Ships In The Black Sea

Turkish authorities have reported a surge in attacks on merchant ships in the Black Sea and have called on Russia and Ukraine to declare a partial ceasefire.

According to the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry Hakan Fidan, as quoted by Le Temps, Ankara has called on Moscow and Kyiv to impose a moratorium on attacks on commercial vessels in the Black Sea.

According to the Turkish minister, hostilities have spread throughout the Black Sea, and “all ships are being targeted indiscriminately.”

“At first, they attacked ports and military vessels. Now they are attacking all merchant ships indiscriminately,” said the head of Turkish diplomacy.

He added that, in particular, ships owned by Turks or flying the Turkish flag are being affected.

It should be noted that Turkey had previously called on Moscow and Kyiv to refrain from striking ports and urged them to ensure the safety of shipping in the Black Sea. In addition, Ankara proposed that the warring parties impose a moratorium on strikes against energy facilities.
