Russia Is Running Out Of Gasoline: The Old Ways No Longer Work

  • 9.08.2026, 12:04

There will be a new wave of the fuel crisis in August.

Ways to Overcome fuel crisis used in June and July will no longer save Russian regions in August. There isn’t even enough gasoline for the “even-odd” system. Independent Russian economist Vyacheslav Shiryaev writes about this in his blog, as reported by Dialog.UA.

This time, fuel will run out everywhere unless Ukraine gets distracted by other objectives again (attacks on Western Bank warehouses over the past three weeks). The Lipetsk region, which—like most regions of the Russian Federation—does not have its own oil refinery, illustrates what the crisis will look like this time.

The return to the “even-odd” fuel distribution system under current conditions will not yield the expected results, stated the governor of the Lipetsk region Igor Artamonov.

This mechanism allows for the distribution of traffic flow when fuel is available but has not yet been delivered to gas stations. Now, however, according to the authorities, the problem lies in the insufficient volume of gasoline reaching the retail network.

In essence, the governor acknowledged that this time there simply is no gasoline (and there won’t be any), so it makes no sense to implement any mechanisms for distributing fuel that isn’t available.
