A Russian Rave Party Was Canceled In Minsk

The organizers said they had been “eagerly looking forward to meeting the kind-hearted Belarusians.”
The “Gorkovskaya Metro Station” rave party, which was scheduled to take place on August 15 in Minsk and was organized by the creative collective of the same name from Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, has been canceled. The organizers reported that the tour permit they had already received was revoked two weeks later, though they were never given an official reason, according to "Zerkalo".
The party was supposed to take place at the “ECHO” art space on the grounds of the “Luch” factory in Minsk. Tickets cost between 105 and 205 rubles.
The organizers announced the cancellation on August 8.
“Last night, the administration made a final decision to cancel a number of events, including ours. We never received an official reason,” the team’s statement reads.
The post does not specify which administration made the decision to cancel the party. However, performance permits for events in Minsk are issued by the Minsk City Executive Committee’s Department of Culture.
According to them, preparations for the Minsk event began back in February, when the organizers submitted documents to obtain a performance permit.
“Six months later, our application was reviewed; we received permission and announced the event. Two weeks later, the permit was revoked, and ticket sales were suspended. Our team and our partners for the event in Minsk fought to preserve the effort we’d put in and carry out the event as planned. But, unfortunately, those efforts weren’t enough,” the organizers said.
The team added that it still hopes to hold the event in Minsk in the future.
“We were eagerly looking forward to meeting the kind-hearted people of Belarus and had prepared many surprises. But there’s no room for sadness. We’ll go down this path again—perhaps several times—so that one day ‘Gorkovskaya Metro Station’ will open its massive doors in Minsk,” they wrote.
Purchased tickets can be refunded at the point of purchase.
