The Russian dictator is spreading disinformation here, too.

Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, while telling children about the war using using the example of orcas and polar bears, may have relied on an AI-generated hoax widely circulating on the Internet. No scientifically confirmed cases of a killer whale killing a polar bear have been found, according to Discover Wildlife.

Putin, as a reminder, claimed that orcas allegedly hunt polar bears in packs, tearing them to pieces, and added that children should be told about this so they understand “why Russia is conducting a special military operation.”

At the same time, videos are indeed circulating online that allegedly show orcas attacking polar bears; however, these clips are fake and were likely created using neural networks, so the Russian president may have fallen victim to a popular fake trend on the internet.

No documented cases of orcas attacking polar bears were found in scientific publications by the International Association for Bear Research and Management either.
