U.S. officials confirmed the information.
The American oil company North American Blue Energy Partners (NABEP) will gain control over a number of oil fields in Venezuela that were previously operated by several Chinese companies and one Russian company, reported two U.S. officials.
According to them, these projects are among 14 new contracts awarded to North American Blue Energy Partners.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday that a deal had been reached with Caracas, under which Washington will gain control of one-fifth of Venezuela’s vast oil fields.
According to officials, five of the 14 fields were operated by Chinese companies under a model established during the administration of Nicolás Maduro, while another project was previously managed by a Russian company.
