Tusk Spoke Of “decisive Months” Not Only For Ukraine, But Also For Poland

The Polish prime minister recalled the main lesson of the events of 1939.

Fall and winter could prove decisive not only for Ukraine’s independence, but also for the security of all of Europe. The West must show solidarity to prevent a repeat of past mistakes.

This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, according to Polsat News.

According to the Polish prime minister, the entire free world must now unite to support Kyiv, as a critical period is approaching.

“We must say this out loud. The coming months—this fall and the winter ahead—could be decisive not only for Ukraine’s independence, but also for us,” the politician emphasized.

He added that the security of Poland itself and the entire world depends on Ukraine’s survival, which is why partners must act today.

Lessons from World War II

Tusk is convinced that today’s leaders must draw the right conclusions from the events of 1939. He emphasized that one must not pursue a policy of helplessness or succumb to evil, lies, or hatred.

The Prime Minister recalled that Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia bear responsibility for unleashing World War II—at that time, the world allowed them to commit acts of aggression with impunity.

“There is no ambiguity here. This has been, is, and will remain obvious to every decent person, regardless of where they were born or what nationality they are,” stated the head of the Polish government.

Relying on One’s Own Strengths

According to Tusk, the main lesson of those times is that democratic countries must be strong, rely on their own capabilities and forge genuine alliances, rather than simply waiting for others to react.

He noted that Russia is currently a brutal aggressor. Tusk noted that 87 years after the start of World War II, “evil is once again lurking nearby,” and it is the West’s duty to realize that the fate of all of Europe depends on the events in Ukraine.
