A Polish Plane Flew Over Belarus

The reason isn't the launch of flights to Minsk.

A plane operated by the Polish airline LOT, flying from Vilnius to Warsaw, unexpectedly flew over Belarusian territory—even though, in recent days, the plane had consistently avoided the Grodno region on this route.

This was noticed by Igor Kulei, a journalist, who reported on it on his social media account.

According to him, the reason was bad weather along the Belarusian-Polish-Lithuanian border, and this was the only corridor free of thunderstorms over that part of Belarus.

As a reminder, Polish and most European airlines, including LOT, have been avoiding Belarusian airspace since May 2021—after the Belarusian authorities forced a Ryanair plane to land in Minsk.
