Zelenskyy: Ukraine Is Beginning To Close The Skies Over Russia

The President of Ukraine issued a warning to airlines.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian airspace is becoming dangerous for airlines, insurers, and other participants in international air travel.

He made these remarks during an evening address on Tuesday, September 1.

According to him, Ukraine poses no threat to civil aviation and has no intention of attacking civilian aircraft. At the same time, he emphasized that the situation with air travel is changing due to the activity of drones in the skies over Russia.

“Today we want to warn every airline using Russian airspace, every insurer, and everyone who still uses key Russian airports: Russian airspace is becoming completely dangerous,” Zelenskyy said.

The president noted that Russian authorities are not reporting the actual level of threat; however, he said, in reality, Russian airspace will gradually be closed off due to the war that Russia started.

“The war unleashed by Russia is closing off its own skies,” Zelensky emphasized.

According to him, Ukraine does not want to allow civilian casualties, which is why it is warning other countries about the dangers associated with flying over Russian territory.

“Each of them knows exactly what the Russian war means for our country and for our people, and must convey this information to their capitals,” the president stated.

He also addressed airlines that continue to operate flights to Russian airports, particularly Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other key destinations.

“Civil aviation has no place among drones,” the President of Ukraine emphasized.
