Tusk Warned Of Possible Russian Attacks On Polish Territory

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the coming weeks and months will be a period of very active action on Russia’s part, and more serious attacks on Polish territory cannot be ruled out.
He made this statement during a meeting at the Government Security Center, according to RMF24.
At 5:00 p.m., a meeting began at the Government Security Center headquarters between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the ministers of the Interior and Defense, as well as the leadership of various agencies. This is a response to attacks by the Russian Federation in the immediate vicinity of Poland, which took place on Sunday night and Monday morning.
Tusk noted that “the escalation of Russia’s actions is becoming a reality, and its manifestations are drawing ever closer to our border.”
“This attempt to paralyze border crossings is not the first incident of this kind,” the prime minister said.
“We must realize that, starting today, we will be operating under significantly heightened security measures. After all, we know—and can expect—that the coming weeks and months will be a period of very intense activity on Russia’s part. Unfortunately, we cannot rule out that the escalation will also extend to our territory,” Tusk noted.
He expressed hope that the worst-case scenario would not come to pass. “Unfortunately, the events that have unfolded so far confirm the information we’ve been receiving for many months now—that even these worst-case scenarios are possible,” he added.
Tusk emphasized that he does not want to give in to the tense atmosphere in any way, but there is no doubt that “we must be prepared for a joint response if the need arises.”
“The attacks last night indicate that the Russians are prepared to use technology that is more dangerous than before. I’m referring to jet-powered drones. Their range and accuracy are cause for concern. Of course, Ukraine, which is very well prepared to defend against drones, is also not able to counter them 100 percent effectively, to put it mildly,” the prime minister noted.
According to information provided by Deputy Minister of Defense Cezary Tomczyk, 13 strikes were recorded during Sunday’s Russian drone attack on western Ukraine.
“Therefore, we must realize that Russia possesses such capabilities. That is why I will also be awaiting information on how prepared we are for the possible use of drones and the associated attempts to disrupt our operations—whether it be the railway or industrial facilities. I do not rule out that similar situations could occur here as well,” said the prime minister.
