The Drone Shot Down Over Lithuania Was Carrying Explosives

The country's defense minister announced this.

The drone shot down on Tuesday, September 15, over Lithuania was carrying explosives, according to a Facebook post by the country’s defense minister Robertas Kaunas.

“Operation ‘Shield’ has been completed. According to final reports, an explosive device was detected. Bomb disposal experts defused it. Specialists will continue to examine and analyze the drone,” he said.

As reported by the BNS news agency, the drone flew into Lithuania from Belarus and was shot down by Italian fighter jets stationed in Šiauliai.

An air raid alert was declared in several areas.
