Zelenskyy Dismissed Kravchenko From His Post As Ukraine's Prosecutor General

The President of Ukraine signed the relevant decree.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved the dismissal of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.

This was reported by Charter97.org, citing the relevant decree issued by the Ukrainian head of state.

“To dismiss Ruslan Andriyovych Kravchenko from the office of Prosecutor General,” the decree states.

The scandal surrounding Ruslan Kravchenko erupted after the start of investigation by NABU and the SAP, dubbed “Carthage.”

As part of the case, law enforcement officials announced the dismantling of a criminal organization which, according to the investigation, was created and led by the head of one of the departments of the Office of the Prosecutor General Serhiy Kropiva.

Members of the organization are suspected of systematically accepting bribes from fraudulent call centers in exchange for not interfering with their operations.

Amid the investigation, on September 7, Kravchenko submitted his resignation. He called it a conscious political decision and stated that he did not want the position of Prosecutor General to be used as a tool for political confrontation.

The situation escalated sharply on September 14. Kravchenko released a video statement in which he announced that he had signed a notice of suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos.

On the same day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kravchenko had only one option—resignation—and called on the Verkhovna Rada not to delay its decision.

Today, September 15, the Rada voted to remove Kravchenko from his post as Prosecutor General.
